Tours

We have decided to introduce a range of highly personalized food and wine tours for small groups, couples and individuals, who would like to discover the hidden delights of this beautiful region of Italy and to have an unforgettable experience, which goes beyond the usual "tourist track". Hospitality, natural beauty and quality of the food and wine are the main ingredients of these tours.
Each year, we will be offering food and wine tours during the months of September, October, November and during April, May and June. These are the best months to visit this region. The weather can be relied upon to be warm and sunny, with clear blue skies. The historical cities and picturesque lakeside villages are less crowded than in high summer, when they are extremely popular with Italian and international tourists during the summer holidays.
During the months of September and October visitors can experience the Vendemmia - "the wine harvest" - and the process of drying the grapes on wooden tables to make the famous Amarone and Recioto wines in Valpolicella. During this period you also take advantage of the last days of the Italian summer.
October and November are also the months when the olive harvest starts and the pressing of the extra virgin olive oil of the Valpolicella and Garda lake wine districts can be witnessed. Every April, the biggest and most important wine fair of Italy, called Vinitaly takes place in the city of Verona, where the most famous national and international wine producers and wine brands are represented. During the third weekend of May, it is possible to join the national day of the "Cantine Aperte" or open wine cellars. At that time many ancient villas open their private cellars to the public. Locals and visitors can sample the wine and the food. September, October, Novembver, April, May and June are also the months when you can participate in different country festivals such as the Rice Fair, the Festival of Recioto, the Magnalonga and many others celebrating the cherries, peas, asparagus, tortellini and rice of the region. Joining one of these festivals gives you a unique feel for real Italian tradition.
An up-to-date list of festival dates can be found on my website on the top right-hand corner and I will be happy to accompany you to these festivals with you or show you where they are located. We can also organize cultural tours to the Lake Garda or to the historical city of Verona. A special tour can also be a daily or evening tour of the typical Osterias of the city of Verona including food and wine tasting or a cookery class at one of the private Villas or local restaurants, where you will experience the friendly atmosphere of the family hospitality and enjoy the richness and sophistication of Italian cuisine. If you are not sure, which wine tour or wine areas you would like to visit or you are not sure about how to create an itinerary, I will be happy to help you to design the best itinerary to suit your interests. Under the link www.valpolicellatours.com, you can see some example of tours that I can organize for you.
